Helllooo my Michigan family! Have you visited Nurturing Our Seeds? Their journey started 8 years ago with a simple flower garden. Today, Nurturing Our Seeds is a community garden that operates in 9 lots; providing healthy fruits and veggies and fresh herbs!

Oasis in a food Desert:

Nurturing Our Seeds identifies the East side of Detroit as a food desert, or an area with limited access to affordable and nutritious food products. Their mission states- "Nurturing Our Seeds grows a variety of seasonal produce and herbs to solve to neighborhood’s social problem of healthy food access. We grow because our children, grandchildren, and families deserve to live a healthy life free from overpriced, molded, spoiled, and expired foods in their neighborhood grocery stores." This is a mission I can totally identify with living in The D.C./Maryland/Virginia area.

What I also love about this place is that they have a Worship Garden which serves as a multiuse space place for healing and gathering in which residents can engage in activities such as meditation, yoga, martial arts, and more!

Can we just daydream for a moment and imaging sitting in the middle paradise- meditating, working out, maybe spending time with the kids (or not?)

Now pull yourself out of that moment of euphoria and let me tell ya about how you can get some good eats!
